Kuon Wataru's Personality

Kuon is a selfish and ruthless person, who only cares about his own survival and success. He is willing to betray anyone who stands in his way, even his own teammates. He does not trust anyone and prefers to work alone.
Kuon’s personality stems from his bitter experience in high school, where he was the only one who took soccer seriously among his clubmates. He had a dream of becoming a professional player and winning the nationals, but his clubmates did not share his ambition and passion. They mocked him for being too serious and abandoned him after losing several games.
Kuon felt betrayed and hurt by his clubmates, who he thought were his friends. He decided to never rely on anyone again and to pursue his dream alone. He received an invitation to join Blue Lock, a project that aimed to create the best striker in Japan by eliminating the weak and selecting the strong.
Kuon saw Blue Lock as an opportunity to prove himself and to achieve his dream. He did not care about the consequences of joining Blue Lock, such as being banned from playing for Japan’s national team if he failed. He was determined to win at any cost, even if it meant betraying his own teammates.
Kuon joined Team Z, one of the 11 teams that competed in the first selection of Blue Lock. He pretended to be a nice and helpful person, who organized the team and created strategies. He used his intelligence and experience to gain the trust and respect of his teammates. However, he was actually gathering information and looking for a chance to switch to a better team.
Kuon betrayed Team Z in the middle of a game, when he revealed that he had been leaking their information to the opposing team. He offered to cooperate with the other team, hoping to secure his survival. He showed his true personality, which was cold and cruel. He mocked Team Z for being naive and stupid, and for believing that they could survive by working as a team.
Kuon’s betrayal shocked and angered Team Z, especially Yoichi Isagi, the protagonist of the series. Isagi challenged Kuon and vowed to defeat him. Kuon underestimated Isagi and his teammates, thinking that they were weak and hopeless. He was confident that he had made the right choice by betraying them.
However, Kuon’s plan backfired, as Team Z managed to overcome his betrayal and to win the game. They showed their strength and teamwork, and proved him wrong. Kuon was stunned and impressed by Team Z’s performance, and realized that he had underestimated them. He felt a hint of regret and admiration for them, and decided to help them in the last moments of the game.
Kuon’s actions in the last game of the first selection showed that he was not completely heartless and that he still had some respect and affection for his former teammates. He also showed that he was capable of learning from his mistakes and of changing his attitude. He acknowledged Team Z’s victory and apologized to them for his betrayal. He also wished them good luck for the next selection.
