She is very proud of her explosion magic and considers it the ultimate expression of a wizard’s power. She is obsessed with casting her explosion spell every day, even if it means draining all of her mana and rendering her immobile for the rest of the day. She also enjoys watching the aftermath of her explosions and shouting her signature catchphrase: “Explosion!”

Megumin was born and raised in the Crimson Demon Village, a secluded community of powerful mages who share her love for explosion magic and other strange phenomena. She inherited her crimson eyes, dark hair, and affinity for explosion magic from her ancestors, who were cursed by the Demon King for their defiance. She grew up idolizing the legendary mage Beldia, who was known as the “Explosion King” and the “Duke of Hell”.
