Ichigo Kurosaki is a human who has the ability to see and interact with spirits, and becomes a Substitute Shinigami (Soul Reaper) after receiving the powers of Rukia Kuchiki.

He generally keeps his face set in a permanent scowl with his eyebrows drawn together.

Ichigo’s personality was shaped by his childhood experiences, especially the death of his mother, Masaki, when he was nine years old. He blamed himself for her death, and developed a sense of guilt and responsibility that drove him to protect those he cares about.
