Ranpo Edogawa is based on a real-life mystery writer who used the pen name Edogawa Ranpo in honor of Edgar Allan Poe. He claims to have an ability called Super Deduction, which allows him to solve any case in seconds, but in reality, he is just a brilliant detective with no supernatural powers.
Ranpo Edogawa's Personality
Ranpo Edogawa is a confident, eccentric, and arrogant person who enjoys solving mysteries and flaunting his intelligence. He is often bored by mundane tasks and prefers to take on challenging and interesting cases. He is also very childish and playful, often teasing his colleagues and making jokes at their expense. He likes to eat sweets and play video games, and he hates being ignored or underestimated.
Ranpo was born with a prodigious talent for deduction and logic, which made him stand out from his peers. He was fascinated by mystery novels and stories, especially those of Edgar Allan Poe, whom he admired and emulated. He developed a keen sense of observation and analysis, as well as a deep understanding of human psychology and behavior. He also learned to disguise his emotions and manipulate others to his advantage.
Ranpo joined the Armed Detective Agency when he was 14 years old, after being recruited by Yukichi Fukuzawa, the founder and leader of the agency. He was the first and youngest member of the agency, and he quickly proved his worth by solving many cases and saving lives. He became friends with the other members of the agency, especially with Kenji Miyazawa, who shared his love for sweets and games. He also formed a rivalry with Akiko Yosano, the agency's doctor and combatant, who often challenged his deductions and mocked his childishness.
Ranpo's life changed when he met Edgar Allan Poe, a member of the American organization known as the Guild, who also claimed to be a descendant of the real Edgar Allan Poe. Poe had an ability called Black Cat in the Rue Morgue, which allowed him to trap people in his books and force them to solve mysteries. Poe was obsessed with Ranpo and wanted to test his skills and make him his partner. He kidnapped Ranpo and trapped him in one of his books, where he had to solve a series of puzzles and riddles. Ranpo managed to escape from Poe's book and defeat him, but he also developed a respect and admiration for him. He later helped Poe and the Guild to stop Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald, the leader of the Guild, who wanted to destroy Yokohama and the Armed Detective Agency.
Ranpo continued to work for the Armed Detective Agency, solving cases and helping his friends. He also faced new enemies and challenges, such as Mushitaro Oguri, a former member of the agency who had an ability that could erase evidence and alter reality, and Fyodor Dostoyevsky, the leader of the Rats in the House of the Dead, who wanted to plunge the world into chaos and darkness. Ranpo used his Super Deduction and his wit to overcome these obstacles and protect his city and his comrades. He also learned to trust and appreciate his friends more, and to show his softer and more caring side.
