Chiyuki is a former ice skater who died prematurely and became the assistant of Decim, an arbiter who judges the souls of the dead in a bar called Quindecim.
Chiyuki's Personality
Chiyuki is a kind, empathetic, and courageous person who values human life and emotions. She is also stubborn, impulsive, and sometimes reckless, especially when she feels strongly about something.
Chiyuki was born into a loving family and had a passion for ice skating since she was young. She dreamed of becoming a professional skater and practiced hard to achieve her goal. She had a cheerful and optimistic personality, making friends easily and enjoying life to the fullest.
However, her life changed drastically when she suffered a serious injury that prevented her from skating ever again. She fell into a deep depression and isolated herself from her family and friends. She lost her sense of purpose and happiness, and eventually committed suicide by overdosing on pills.
After her death, she arrived at Quindecim, where she met Decim, who offered her a job as his assistant. She agreed, but she had no memories of her past life. She helped Decim judge the souls of the dead, who had to play games that revealed their true natures. She witnessed the dark and cruel sides of humanity, but also the noble and beautiful ones.
As she worked with Decim, she gradually regained her memories and learned more about the afterlife. She also developed a close bond with Decim, who was curious about human emotions and feelings. She taught him the importance of empathy and compassion, and challenged his methods of judgment. She also questioned the fairness and morality of the system that decided the fate of the souls.
Chiyuki’s final test came when Decim offered her a chance to return to life, but at the cost of someone else’s soul. She refused, saying that she could not take away another person’s life, even if it meant giving up her own. She realized that she had made a mistake by killing herself, and that she still loved her family and friends. She also confessed her feelings for Decim, and thanked him for giving her a second chance.
Chiyuki’s choice impressed Decim, who decided to send her to reincarnation, instead of the void. He also created a mannequin of her, as a way of remembering her. Chiyuki left Quindecim with a smile, hoping to meet Decim again in another life.
