Nendou Riki is a classmate and self-proclaimed best friend of the protagonist, Saiki Kusuo, who is a psychic with various abilities. He is the only person whose mind Saiki cannot read, due to his extreme stupidity and unpredictability.

Nendou is a dutiful and dull-witted boy who likes helping people and prioritizing the weak. He is also friendly, cheerful, optimistic, and loyal to his friends. He is often oblivious to the situations around him and acts like a dunce almost all the time.

Nendou grew up in a poor and rough neighborhood, where he learned to fight and defend himself. He also inherited his father’s intimidating appearance and scar, which made him look like a delinquent. However, he never used his strength to bully others, and instead became a protector of the weak and a helper of the needy.

He also introduces Saiki to other quirky characters, such as Kaidou Shun and Teruhashi Kokomi, who become part of Saiki’s friend group.

Nendou’s personality is a source of comedy and conflict in the series, as he often clashes with Saiki’s preferences and plans. He is also a foil to Saiki’s rational and cynical personality, as he represents the opposite traits of irrationality and optimism. He is one of the few characters who genuinely cares for Saiki, and wants to make him happy. He is also one of the few characters who can surprise Saiki, and bring excitement to his life.
