Filo is a filolial, a bird-like monster species, who was hatched from an egg bought by Naofumi, the Shield Hero. She has the rare ability to transform into a human girl with wings, and is also the successor of the Filolial Queen, Fitoria. She is one of Naofumi's main companions, along with Raphtalia, a demi-human girl. Filo is a loyal and powerful ally to Naofumi, as well as a budding idol singer.
Filo's Personality
Filo is a cheerful, energetic, and curious filolial who loves to explore the world and have fun. She is also very gluttonous, often eating large amounts of food and demanding more from Naofumi. She is fond of Naofumi and Raphtalia, and considers them her family. She is obedient to Naofumi's orders, but sometimes acts on her own whims and causes trouble. She is also very proud of her filolial heritage, and strives to become a worthy Filolial Queen.
Filo was born from a special egg that Naofumi bought from a slave trader, hoping to get a filolial that could pull his carriage. She quickly grew in size and level, and surprised Naofumi by transforming into a human girl. She was named Filo by Raphtalia, who became her older sister figure. Filo was initially naive and animal-like, but gradually learned to speak and behave like a human. She also developed a fondness for clothes and accessories, especially those made by Naofumi.
Filo's life changed when she met Fitoria, the current Filolial Queen, who recognized her as her successor. Fitoria taught Filo about the history and duty of the filolials, who were created by the first Shield Hero to protect the world from the Waves of Catastrophe. She also challenged Filo to a duel, and gave her a cowlick as a symbol of her inheritance. Filo gained a new sense of responsibility and pride, as well as a desire to surpass Fitoria.
Filo's personality also developed through her interactions with other characters. She became friends with Melty, the second princess of Melromarc, who shared her love for singing and animals. She also formed a rivalry with Motoyasu, the Spear Hero, who had a filolial of his own named Raph-chan. Filo often competed with Motoyasu and Raph-chan in various contests, such as racing, eating, and singing. She also had a crush on Ren, the Sword Hero, who saved her from a dragon attack. Filo's feelings for Ren made her jealous of Rishia, a former member of Itsuki's party who joined Naofumi's group.
Filo's personality also reflected her filolial instincts and abilities. She had a keen sense of smell and hearing, and could use wind magic and physical attacks. She preferred to fight in her filolial form, which was larger and stronger than her human form, but she also learned to control her power in her human form, as advised by Fitoria. She also had a natural talent for singing, which she used to cast music magic and entertain people. - Raphtalia: Filo's older sister figure and best friend. She cares for and admires her, and calls her "Sister" or "Raphtalia". She often plays with her, and sometimes teases her. She also respects her as Naofumi's sword and partner. She is protective of her, and helps her in battle. She also shares her wish of seeing Naofumi smile.
- Melty: Filo's friend and idol partner. She likes and trusts her, and calls her "Melty". She often sings with her, and enjoys her company. She also respects her as the princess of Melromarc and the heir of the throne. She is loyal to her, and defends her from danger. She also respects her as a member of Naofumi's party and a skilled archer. She is supportive of her, and assists her in battle. She also sings with her, and joins her in the Filolial Stars.
