• Black Hair Kaneki: The original and most innocent persona, who is shy, timid, and naive. He is unaware of the harsh realities of the ghoul world and tries to live a normal life as a human. He is loyal to his friends and mentors at Anteiku, a ghoul cafe that helps him adjust to his new condition. He is also in love with Touka, a female ghoul who works at Anteiku and becomes his wife later on.
• White Hair Kaneki: The second and most iconic persona, who is ruthless, cold, and confident. He is the result of Kaneki’s torture by Yamori, a ghoul who made him endure unimaginable pain and suffering. He accepts his ghoul nature and becomes more powerful and aggressive. He is also more independent and rebellious, leaving Anteiku and forming his own group of ghouls, who oppose the CCG, a government organization that hunts ghouls. He is also more distant and aloof, hiding his emotions and true intentions from others.
• Haise Sasaki: The third and most mysterious persona, who is cheerful, polite, and optimistic. He is the result of Kaneki’s memory loss and brainwashing by the CCG, who turned him into one of their own. He is a ghoul investigator, who leads a squad of half-ghouls called the Quinx. He is also a mentee of Arima, a legendary ghoul hunter who defeated Kaneki in battle. He is unaware of his past and true identity, but gradually regains his memories and personality as he encounters his old friends and enemies.
• Black Reaper Kaneki: The fourth and most nihilistic persona, who is depressed, cynical, and suicidal. He is the result of Kaneki’s despair and guilt after regaining his memories and realizing what he has done and lost. He is a double agent, who pretends to work for the CCG, but secretly plans to die by Arima’s hands. He is also a loner, who pushes away his friends and allies, believing that he is a curse and a burden to them. He is also more ruthless and violent, killing anyone who stands in his way, even his former comrades.
• One-Eyed King Kaneki: The fifth and most heroic persona, who is determined, charismatic, and visionary. He is the result of Kaneki’s rebirth and awakening after surviving his fight with Arima, who revealed himself to be his ally and mentor. He is the leader of Goat, a ghoul organization that aims to create a peaceful coexistence between humans and ghouls. He is also the One-Eyed King, a legendary figure who is feared and revered by both sides. He is more mature and responsible, taking on the role of a leader and a symbol. He is also more compassionate and hopeful, inspiring and uniting others with his words and actions.
• Dragon Kaneki: The sixth and most monstrous persona, who is feral, savage, and uncontrollable. He is the result of Kaneki’s transformation and mutation after being injected with a large amount of RC cells, the substance that gives ghouls their abilities. He is a giant dragon-like creature, who rampages across the city, devouring and infecting everything in his path. He is also a source of power and danger, as his cells can create new ghouls and cure old ones, but also cause a deadly disease and a massive explosion. He is unconscious and unaware of his surroundings, acting on his primal instincts and emotions.
