Gowther is the Goat’s Sin of Lust, a member of the legendary group of knights who rebelled against the kingdom of Liones. He is also a former member of the Ten Commandments, a group of elite warriors from the Demon Clan. Gowther is not a human, but a doll created by a powerful wizard who gave him his name and appearance.

Gowther's Personality

Gowther is a curious, analytical, and detached individual who lacks emotions and empathy. He is often oblivious to the feelings and reactions of others, and sometimes causes trouble or harm with his actions. He is interested in understanding human emotions and memories, and uses his power of Invasion to manipulate, erase, or create them. He does not do this out of malice, but out of a desire to learn and experiment.
Gowther was created by the original Gowther, a member of the Ten Commandments who was known as the Selflessness. The original Gowther was a kind and compassionate demon who fell in love with a human woman named Glariza. He created the doll Gowther in her image and likeness, but gave him a male body to avoid any romantic attachment. He also gave him his power of Invasion and his Sacred Treasure, the Twin Bow Herritt.
The original Gowther used the doll Gowther as his proxy to escape from the Demon Prison, where he was sealed by the Demon King for betraying the Demon Clan. He also used him to end the Holy War between the Goddess Clan and the Demon Clan, by altering the memories of the two archangels, Mael and Ludociel, and making them switch sides. However, this act caused a great strain on the original Gowther, who eventually died in Glariza’s arms.
The doll Gowther inherited the original Gowther’s memories and personality, but not his emotions. He wandered the world for thousands of years, until he met the Seven Deadly Sins and joined them. He also met Princess Nadja Liones, who was terminally ill. He fell in love with her and tried to save her by giving her his heart, literally. However, he was caught in the act and accused of killing her. He was then imprisoned and tortured by the Holy Knights, who branded him as the Sin of Lust.
Gowther escaped from his prison with the help of his fellow Sin, Meliodas, and rejoined the Seven Deadly Sins. He participated in several battles and adventures with them, such as fighting against the Holy Knights, the New Generation, the Ten Commandments, and the Demon King. He also encountered his creator’s old friends and enemies, such as Merlin, Zeldris, and Melascula.
Throughout his journey, Gowther gradually developed emotions and a sense of self. He learned to care for his friends and allies, and to feel remorse and guilt for his past actions. He also learned to express his feelings and opinions, and to respect the boundaries and consent of others. He became more human-like, but also more vulnerable and conflicted. He faced several challenges and dilemmas, such as losing his memories, regaining his emotions, and choosing his own path.

Relationships

  • Meliodas: The leader of the Seven Deadly Sins and the Dragon’s Sin of Wrath. Gowther respects and trusts Meliodas, who saved him from his prison and accepted him as a friend. He often follows his orders and supports him in battle. He also admires his strength and leadership, and sometimes imitates his gestures and expressions.
  • Diane: The Serpent’s Sin of Envy and a giantess. Gowther has a complicated relationship with Diane, who is often annoyed and angry with him for his insensitive and intrusive actions. He once erased her memories and replaced them with his own, making her believe that she was him. He also once kissed her without her consent, and later revealed her feelings for King to everyone. However, he also helped her regain her lost memories, and apologized for his mistakes. He considers her a friend and a comrade, and respects her feelings and wishes.
  • Ban: The Fox’s Sin of Greed and an immortal human. Gowther has a friendly and playful relationship with Ban, who is one of the few people who can tolerate and understand him. They often tease and joke with each other, and sometimes team up for their own schemes. They also share a bond over their love for someone who died, and their desire to bring them back. Gowther helped Ban enter Purgatory to find Meliodas’s emotions, and later helped him reunite with Elaine.
  • King: The Grizzly’s Sin of Sloth and the Fairy King. Gowther has a respectful and cordial relationship with King, who is one of the most patient and kind members of the Seven Deadly Sins. He often listens to his advice and guidance, and follows his instructions. He also helped him confess his feelings to Diane, and supported him in his fight against Mael. He values his friendship and wisdom, and sometimes calls him “big brother”.
