Eren Jaeger is a former member of the Survey Corps, the leader of the Yeagerists, and the last inheritor of the Attack Titan, Founding Titan, and the War Hammer Titan. He is a young man who swears revenge on the Titans, giant humanoid creatures that have forced humanity to live within walled cities and devoured his mother in front of him.
Eren Jaeger's Personality
Eren is a determined, impulsive, and idealistic freedom fighter who values his friends and comrades above all else. He is driven by his desire to see the outside world and to eradicate the Titans that have oppressed and terrorized humanity for over a century. He is willing to sacrifice everything, including his own humanity, to achieve his goals and to protect his loved ones. He is also prone to anger and violence, often acting on his emotions rather than logic or reason. He is fiercely loyal to his friends, especially Armin and Mikasa, who have been with him since childhood. He often clashes with authority figures and people who have different views or methods than him, such as Levi, Erwin, and Hange. He is not afraid to challenge the status quo and to seek the truth behind the walls and the Titans.
Eren’s personality is largely shaped by his childhood experiences and traumas. He was born and raised in Shiganshina District, a town located on the outermost edge of Wall Maria, the outermost of the three circular walls protecting humanity from the Titans. He lived a peaceful and happy life with his parents, Grisha and Carla, and his adoptive sister, Mikasa, until the year 845, when the Colossal Titan and the Armored Titan breached the wall and allowed the Titans to invade the town. Eren witnessed his mother being eaten by a Titan while he and Mikasa were helpless to save her. He swore to kill all the Titans and to join the Survey Corps, an elite military branch that ventures outside the walls to fight and study the Titans. He was also entrusted by his father with a mysterious key and a basement that supposedly held the secrets of the world.
Eren joined the 104th Training Corps along with Mikasa and his best friend, Armin, who shared his dream of seeing the outside world. He befriended many of his fellow cadets, such as Jean, Connie, Sasha, Reiner, Bertolt, Annie, and Historia. He also developed a rivalry with Jean, who often mocked him for his reckless and idealistic attitude. Eren graduated as the fifth best cadet in his class and joined the Survey Corps, hoping to make a difference in the war against the Titans. However, during his first mission, he was seemingly killed by a Titan that bit off his leg. He later emerged from the Titan’s body as a Titan himself, revealing that he had the power to transform into a Titan at will. He was then captured by the military, who feared and distrusted him for his ability. He was saved by his friends and the Survey Corps, who decided to use him as a weapon against the Titans. He was also revealed to be the holder of the Attack Titan, one of the nine Titans that possess intelligence and special abilities, and that can be inherited by humans who possess the “Titan’s power”.
Eren’s life became more complicated and dangerous as he learned more about the Titans and the world. He discovered that some of his friends, such as Reiner, Bertolt, and Annie, were actually Titan shifters who were responsible for the breach of Wall Maria and the death of his mother. He also learned that they came from a nation called Marley, which was at war with the Eldians, the race of people who can turn into Titans. He realized that he was also an Eldian, and that he had inherited the Founding Titan, the most powerful of the nine Titans, from his father, who had stolen it from the royal family of Paradis Island, the true name of the land within the walls. He also learned that the Founding Titan had the ability to control all the Titans and to alter the memories and bodies of the Eldians, but that he could only use it if he came into contact with a Titan of royal blood, such as Historia or Zeke, his half-brother and the holder of the Beast Titan.
Eren’s personality changed drastically after he learned the truth about the world and the history of the Titans. He became more secretive, distant, and ruthless, often acting on his own and hiding his true intentions from his friends and allies. He also became more conflicted and tormented by his memories and his destiny, as he saw the future and the past through the eyes of the Attack Titan. He developed a nihilistic and fatalistic outlook, believing that he had no choice but to follow the path that was set for him. He also became more sympathetic and understanding of his enemies, such as Reiner and Zeke, as he realized that they were also victims of a cruel and unjust world. He decided to pursue his own plan to end the cycle of hatred and violence that had plagued the world for centuries, even if it meant betraying and hurting his friends and comrades. He also inherited the War Hammer Titan from Lara Tybur, the leader of the Tybur family, a noble and influential Eldian family that sided with Marley. He used his combined powers to unleash the Rumbling, a cataclysmic event that involved activating all the colossal Titans within the walls and sending them to trample the world outside Paradis Island, killing millions of people and destroying countless civilizations.
Eren’s personality was ultimately revealed to be a complex and tragic one, as he confessed his true feelings and motives to his friends and enemies. He admitted that he hated himself for what he had done and that he wanted to be stopped by someone. He also revealed that he had manipulated and influenced the events and the people around him to ensure that his plan would succeed, even if it meant sacrificing his own freedom and happiness. He also expressed his love and gratitude for his friends, especially Mikasa, whom he had always cared for and protected. He also apologized to his enemies, such as Reiner and Annie, whom he had fought and hurt. He also reconciled with his brother, Zeke, whom he had used and betrayed. He also thanked his father, Grisha, whom he had inherited his powers and memories from. He also accepted his fate, as he was killed by Mikasa, who kissed him and severed his head. He then used his last moments to free all the Eldians from the curse of the Titans and to erase the power of the Titans from the world. He also erased the memories of his friends, except for Mikasa, whom he asked to forget him and move on with her life. He then died, leaving behind a legacy of hope and freedom for the world.
Relationships
Mikasa Ackerman: Eren’s adoptive sister and childhood friend. She is very loyal and devoted to him, often following him wherever he goes and protecting him from danger. She is also in love with him, but she never confesses her feelings to him until his final moments. Eren cares deeply for Mikasa, but he often finds her overprotective and clingy. He also tries to push her away and hurt her feelings, hoping that she would live a happy and normal life without him. He ultimately regrets his actions and tells her that he loves her and that he wants her to be happy.
Armin Arlert: Eren’s best friend and childhood friend. He shares Eren’s dream of seeing the outside world and supports him in his endeavors. He is also a genius strategist and a valuable ally to Eren and the Survey Corps. He is also the holder of the Colossal Titan, after inheriting it from Bertolt. Eren trusts and respects Armin, often relying on his intelligence and advice. He also considers him as his hero and his hope. He also sacrifices himself to save Armin’s life, allowing him to become a Titan shifter. He also apologizes to Armin for lying to him and hurting him, and tells him that he is free to choose his own path.
Levi Ackerman: Eren’s superior and mentor in the Survey Corps. He is the strongest and most skilled soldier in the Survey Corps, and the leader of the Special Operations Squad. He is also a distant relative of Mikasa, as they both belong to the Ackerman clan, a family of warriors who are immune to the Founding Titan’s power. He is also the holder of the Titan injection, which can turn a human into a Titan shifter. Levi is strict and harsh with Eren, often beating him up and scolding him for his mistakes and recklessness. He also does not trust Eren completely, as he is aware of his dangerous and unpredictable powers. However, he also recognizes Eren’s potential and courage, and decides to entrust him with the fate of humanity. He also respects Eren’s decisions and choices, even if he does not agree with them. He also tries to kill Eren to stop the Rumbling, but he ultimately fails and lets him go. He also mourns Eren’s death and salutes him for his sacrifice.
