Nezuko Kamado is a central character in the anime and manga series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. She is the younger sister of Tanjiro Kamado, the main protagonist, and the sole survivor of an attack on her family by a demon. Nezuko is unusual in that she has been transformed into a demon, yet she retains human feelings and a deep desire to protect her brother.

Nezuko Kamado's Personality

Nezuko is a loyal, compassionate, and courageous demon who values her family above all else. She is gentle, kind, and caring, often showing affection to her brother and his friends. She is also determined, resilient, and resourceful, overcoming many challenges and hardships as a demon. She is not violent or bloodthirsty, unlike most demons, and she refuses to harm humans or eat them. She is able to resist the influence of Muzan Kibutsuji, the demon king who turned her into a demon, and she fights against his minions alongside her brother.

Nezuko was originally a human girl who lived happily with her family in a remote mountain village. She was the second eldest child and the only daughter of Tanjuro and Kie Kamado, who had six children in total. She was close to her siblings, especially her older brother Tanjiro, who often took care of her and taught her how to make charcoal. She was cheerful, playful, and curious, enjoying the simple pleasures of life. She was also respectful, obedient, and helpful, assisting her mother with household chores and looking after her younger brothers.

Nezuko’s life changed drastically when a demon attacked her family one night while Tanjiro was away. She was the only one who survived the massacre, but she was bitten by the demon and turned into one herself. She lost most of her memories and became feral, attacking Tanjiro when he returned. However, she soon regained some of her humanity and recognized her brother, who defended her from a demon slayer named Giyu Tomioka. Giyu spared Nezuko’s life and gave Tanjiro a wooden box to carry her in during the day, as demons are vulnerable to sunlight. He also told Tanjiro to seek out a man named Sakonji Urokodaki, who could train him to become a demon slayer and help Nezuko turn back into a human.

Nezuko accompanied Tanjiro on his journey to become a demon slayer and find a cure for her condition. She spent most of her time sleeping in the wooden box, which allowed her to recover her strength without eating humans. She also wore a bamboo gag in her mouth to prevent her from biting anyone. She gradually learned to control her demon instincts and powers, such as growing and shrinking her size, regenerating her wounds, and using her blood as a weapon. She also developed a strong bond with Tanjiro, who treated her with love and respect, and a sense of duty to protect him and his allies from harm. She often fought alongside Tanjiro against powerful demons, such as the Lower and Upper Moons of the Twelve Kizuki, the elite followers of Muzan.

Nezuko eventually became a key figure in the final battle against Muzan and his army of demons. She was revealed to be the Chosen Demon, a rare demon who possessed a special blood that could destroy Muzan’s cells and weaken him. She was also able to share her blood with other demons and turn them back into humans, as she did with Tamayo, a former demon doctor who helped Tanjiro and Nezuko. She was targeted by Muzan, who wanted to capture her and use her blood to make himself immortal. However, she was protected by Tanjiro and the other demon slayers, who fought valiantly against Muzan and his forces. Nezuko also managed to resist Muzan’s attempts to manipulate her mind and make her obey him. She ultimately played a vital role in Muzan’s defeat and the end of the demon era.

Relationships

Tanjiro Kamado: Nezuko’s older brother and the most important person in her life. She loves him deeply and trusts him completely. She follows his instructions and listens to his advice.
