Angel Devil is a devil who embodies the fear of angels, and a Public Safety Devil Hunter from Tokyo Special Division 4. He is one of the main allies of the protagonist, Denji, and has a close bond with his fellow devil hunter, Aki Hayakawa.

Angel Devil's Personality

Angel Devil is a lazy, lonely, and apathetic devil, who prefers to avoid work and conflict as much as possible. He is often seen sleeping or resting, and claims that he would rather die than work. He has a low self-esteem and a pessimistic outlook on life, believing that he is a devil first and an angel second, and that humans ought to die in pain.

Angel Devil was born in a rural village, where he was worshipped as a god by the villagers. He lived a peaceful and comfortable life, until one day, a group of devil hunters attacked his village and killed everyone, including his parents. Angel Devil was captured and tortured by the devil hunters, who wanted to use his power for their own benefit. He managed to escape, but not before losing his arms and his wings.

Angel Devil wandered around the world, hiding from humans and other devils, until he was found by Makima, the leader of the Public Safety Devil Hunters. She offered him a deal: if he joined her organization and worked as a devil hunter, she would give him a new pair of arms and wings, as well as a steady supply of blood. Angel Devil agreed, hoping to find a new purpose in life.

Angel Devil became a member of the Tokyo Special Division 4, where he met Aki Hayakawa, a young and serious devil hunter who had a contract with the Fox Devil. Aki was the first human who was not afraid of touching Angel Devil, and the two developed a friendship based on mutual respect and trust. Angel Devil also met Denji, a half-human half-devil who had a contract with the Chainsaw Devil. Denji was a naive and cheerful boy, who often annoyed Angel Devil with his antics, but also inspired him with his optimism and courage.

Angel Devil participated in several missions with his team, facing various enemies and dangers, such as the Eternity Devil, the Gun Devil, and the International Assassins. He also learned more about his own power, which allowed him to steal the lifespan of others and use it to create weapons or heal wounds. He discovered that he had a limit to how much lifespan he could store, and that he could also give his lifespan to others, as he did for Aki and Denji on several occasions.

Angel Devil’s personality gradually changed as he spent more time with his friends. He became more caring and compassionate, showing concern and sympathy for those who suffered or died. He also became more willing to fight and work, even if he still complained about it. He realized that he was not just a devil, but also an angel, and that he had a choice in how he lived his life. He decided to live for himself, and for his friends, rather than for Makima or anyone else.

Relationships

Aki Hayakawa: Angel Devil’s best friend and partner. They have a strong bond based on mutual respect and trust. They often work together and support each other in battle. Angel Devil admires Aki’s determination and loyalty, and Aki appreciates Angel Devil’s power and kindness. They share a similar tragic past, and a similar fate, as they both die at the hands of Makima.
Denji: Angel Devil’s friend and teammate. They have a contrasting personality, with Denji being cheerful and energetic, and Angel Devil being lazy and gloomy. They often bicker and tease each other, but they also care for each other and help each other in need. Angel Devil is amused and annoyed by Denji’s simplicity and stupidity, but also inspired and moved by his optimism and courage. Denji is one of the few people who can make Angel Devil smile and laugh.
Power: Angel Devil’s friend and teammate. They have a similar personality, with Power being lazy and selfish, and Angel Devil being lazy and apathetic. They often hang out together and slack off, or compete with each other in trivial matters. They also have a common interest in cats, and often play with Meowy, Denji’s pet cat. Power is one of the few people who can understand Angel Devil’s feelings and thoughts.
Makima: Angel Devil’s boss and manipulator. She is the one who recruited him into the Public Safety Devil Hunters, and gave him a new pair of arms and wings. She also provides him with blood, and controls his actions and emotions with her power. Angel Devil is afraid of Makima, and obeys her orders without question. He is unaware of her true nature and intentions, until it is too late. Makima is the one who kills him, along with Aki and Power, in order to use their power for her own benefit.
