Denji is a human-devil hybrid who can transform into Chainsaw Man, a powerful devil hunter, by pulling a cord on his chest. He works for the Public Safety Bureau as a member of the Special Division 4, fighting against various devils and threats to humanity.

Denji's Personality

Denji is a simple-minded, reckless, and hedonistic young man who enjoys the pleasures of life, such as food, money, and women. He is also loyal, courageous, and compassionate, willing to risk his life for his friends and those he cares about. He has a strong bond with Pochita, the Chainsaw Devil who became his heart and gave him a second chance at life.

Denji grew up in poverty and abuse, inheriting his father's debt to the yakuza after his father committed suicide. He had no education, no friends, and no dreams, living only to survive and pay off his debt. He met Pochita, a wounded devil in the shape of a dog, and decided to take care of him, forming a friendship. He became a devil hunter for the yakuza, using Pochita as his weapon, but was betrayed and killed by them.

After his death, Pochita offered to become his heart and revive him, on the condition that he would live his dreams for him. Denji agreed, and became a hybrid of human and devil, able to transform into Chainsaw Man. He was recruited by Makima, a mysterious and powerful woman who works for the Public Safety Bureau, and joined the Special Division 4, a team of devil hunters. He also met Aki and Power, two other members of the team, who became his friends and roommates.

Denji's life changed drastically, as he experienced many new things, such as going to school, eating out, watching movies, and dating girls. He also faced many dangers and challenges, such as fighting against the Gun Devil, a notorious and feared devil who killed millions of people, the Bomb Devil, a beautiful and deadly assassin who fell in love with him, and the Control Devil, a manipulative and ruthless enemy who revealed herself to be Makima, his boss and crush.

Denji's personality also changed throughout his journey, as he learned more about himself, his friends, and the world. He developed a sense of morality, justice, and responsibility, as well as a desire to protect and save others. He also struggled with his identity, emotions, and memories, as he realized that he was not only a human, but also a devil, and that he had a past that was erased by Makima. He also faced betrayal, loss, and grief, as he lost many of his friends and allies, and discovered Makima's true nature and intentions.

Denji eventually managed to defeat Makima, with the help of his friends and Pochita, who regained his original form as the Chainsaw Devil. He decided to live a normal life as a high school student, while also secretly continuing his role as Chainsaw Man, fighting against other devils and threats. He also adopted Nayuta, a young girl who was Makima's reincarnation, and treated her as his sister. He hoped to find happiness and peace, while also fulfilling Pochita's wish to see the world.

Relationships

Pochita: Denji's best friend and heart, who is the Chainsaw Devil. They trust and care for each other deeply, and share a contract to live their dreams.
Aki: Denji's friend and teammate, who is a human-devil hybrid. They have a brotherly bond, as they argue and support each other. Aki taught Denji many things and died in his arms.
Power: Denji's friend and teammate, who is a fiend. They have a comedic and chaotic relationship, as they prank and enjoy each other. Power shares Denji's taste for food, money, and mischief.
Makima: Denji's former boss and crush, who is the Control Devil. They have a complex and twisted relationship, as Makima used and manipulated Denji, while also giving him affection. Denji loved and hated Makima, and was the one who killed her.
Reze: Denji's former girlfriend and enemy, who is the Bomb Devil. They have a tragic and romantic relationship, as they fell in love but were forced to fight. Denji cherished and regretted Reze, who was captured and tortured by Makima.
Nayuta: Denji's adoptive sister and Makima's reincarnation, who is a human-devil hybrid. They have a sweet and innocent relationship, as Denji treats her as his family and protects her. Nayuta loves Denji and calls him "big brother".
