Himeno is a Public Safety Devil Hunter who works under Makima’s special squad and is partnered with Aki Hayakawa. She has a contract with the Ghost Devil, which grants her the ability to use ghosts for various purposes.

Himeno's Personality

Himeno is a mature and experienced senior who is not afraid to tackle challenges head-on. She often jokes with her subordinates and tries to motivate them with rewards or incentives. She is perceptive of the people around her and can adapt to different situations. She is also caring and empathetic, as she values the well-being of her fellow Devil Hunters and tries to comfort them in times of distress.

Himeno’s personality was shaped by her harsh and dangerous life as a Devil Hunter. She lost her right eye and her previous partner in a mission gone wrong, which left her traumatized and depressed. She also had to deal with the grief and anger of her late partner’s girlfriend, who blamed her for his death. Himeno developed a coping mechanism of drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes to numb her pain and stress.

Himeno met Aki Hayakawa when they were assigned as partners by Kishibe, a veteran Devil Hunter. She was initially cold and distant to him, as she did not want to get attached to another partner who might die. However, she gradually warmed up to him and developed romantic feelings for him. She also helped him overcome his hatred for the Gun Devil, who killed his family, and encouraged him to live for himself.

Himeno also befriended Denji, a young Devil Hunter who has the ability to transform into the Chainsaw Man. She was intrigued by his simple and naive personality and his lack of knowledge about the world. She taught him basic things like how to read and write, and also offered him a french kiss as a reward for completing a mission. She saw him as a younger brother and wanted to protect him from the dangers of their job.

Himeno’s personality was tested when she faced the Eternity Devil, a powerful enemy that could manipulate time. She was trapped in a loop of dying and reviving, which caused her immense pain and fear. She managed to break free from the loop by using her Ghost Devil to kill herself, but she was severely injured and bleeding. She sacrificed herself to save Aki from the Eternity Devil’s attack, and confessed her love to him before dying.

Relationships

Aki Hayakawa: Himeno’s partner and love interest. They had a close and trusting relationship, and supported each other in their missions. Himeno was the only person who could make Aki smile and laugh. She died in his arms, leaving him heartbroken and devastated.
Denji: Himeno’s friend and subordinate. They had a playful and friendly relationship, and often teased each other. Himeno taught him many things and cared for him like a sibling. She also kissed him twice, once as a reward and once as a farewell. Denji was shocked and saddened by her death, and vowed to avenge her.
Kobeni Higashiyama: Himeno’s subordinate and colleague. They had a professional and cordial relationship, and worked together in some missions. Himeno was annoyed by Kobeni’s clumsiness and cowardice, but also respected her as a Devil Hunter. Kobeni was scared and impressed by Himeno’s abilities and personality.
Makima: Himeno’s boss and leader. They had a formal and respectful relationship, and followed her orders without question. Himeno admired Makima’s charisma and strength, but also feared her authority and secrets. Makima praised Himeno’s skills and loyalty, but also manipulated her and used her as a pawn.
